Under the monumental 628 m² projection dome of the ARTIS Planetarium, visitors embark on exhilarating journeys to the edges of the universe. Sitting comfortably in tilted amphitheater seats, you are surrounded by realistic 360-degree projections of constellations, black holes, nebulas, and distant solar systems.
Opened in 1988 and continually upgraded with cutting-edge optical and digital projection technology, the Planetarium is one of the largest and most technically advanced astronomy theaters in Europe.

Planning your space journey is simple: the Planetarium requires no separate admission fee. Entry to all regular daily shows is fully included in every standard ARTIS Royal Zoo day ticket.

[!TIP] Arrive 10 Minutes Early: Seats inside the dome are unreserved and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Arriving 10 minutes prior to showtime ensures prime seating near the center of the dome.

The visual magic inside the dome relies on sophisticated optomechanical and digital engineering:
- Ultra-High Resolution Laser Projectors: Multiple synchronized digital projectors illuminate the massive ceiling seamlessly with rich contrast and deep space blacks.
- Real-Time Astronomical Database: Presenters can navigate live through an astronomical database of billions of charted stars and exoplanets.
- Spatial Surround Sound: An acoustic audio system envelopes the hall, heightening the sensation of weightless cosmic flight.
